The old transformer station's backyard is irregularly hosting barbecues with a vegan focus.

The red brick building, constructed in 1928-29 by BEWAG architect Hans Müller and workers whose names are unknown, is described as follows in the archives of the Berlin State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments (translated):

The Christiania substation is an unconventional building. The corner tower consists of Gothic-style clustered pillars that rise above the ground without a base, and narrow, exceptionally high rows of windows that cut into the projecting cornice with a pointed arch. The austere, steep structure, reminiscent of Gothic tracery windows, suggests concentrated energy.
